Enemies of The Heart is the thrilling continuation of Susan Grace’s saga of the Carlisle women and the men who love them. This time the action centers on Diana, eldest daughter of Lady Catherine Grayson, the notorious pirate Lady Cat. Diana has inherited much of her mother’s daring streak as well as her Aunt Victoria’s independence. Determined to begin her own breeding stable, Diana turns to her Uncle Justin for advice, and finds herself working along side her uncle’s trainer, the handsome Jared Devlin. Fascinated by his skill with the horses, Diana finds her curiosity peaked when she learns Devlin has a past that he is running from. Little does she know that her curiosity would lead her into danger – both real and of the heart.
Jared Devlin left his native Ireland, on the run from the English soldiers who killed his sister and brothers, but the memories of his home have never left his heart. Nor have the memories of that terrible event that tore his family apart. He has sworn to never have anything to do with English aristocracy. However, he does manage to fall for his employer’s pretty young niece Diana, who claims to be from America. Will he still be entranced when he discovers who she really is?
Grace’s epic historical romance once again combines thrilling adventure, overwhelming heartbreak, a delicious mystery, and a wonderful passionate love story all in one remarkable tale. This is book four in what promises to be a six-volume series. Readers of Grace’s previous novels will be delighted to find the return of beloved characters. New readers will be equally as fascinated with the storyline, and hopefully will pursue the other books in this series to learn the entire story. But prior knowledge is not essential to enjoying this book. That’s why Susan Grace is considered one of the premier writers of historical romance. She has what it takes to capture her readers' attention and keep them mesmerized.
